    Double Your Impact: Support the Wisconsin Law Foundation

    Your support, now more than ever, is critical to our ability to fund important programs and services across Wisconsin – and now, your donations could be doubled.

    Nov. 17, 2021 – People give for a variety of reasons – the desire to help others, personal experience with a program or organization, because it just makes us feel good – but everyone wants their gift to make an impact.

    Donating to the Wisconsin Law Foundation ensures your gift will make a difference – and your gift may be doubled, thanks to a very generous pledge by Law Foundation board member attorney Kevin Lyons and his wife, Roseann Lyons.

    As the charitable arm of the State Bar of Wisconsin, the Law Foundation promotes public understanding of the law, and supports creative programs that have a long-lasting, positive impact on Wisconsin youth and adults.

    The Law Foundation provides funding for a broad array of programs in communities across Wisconsin, including:

    • developing the next generation of legal and civic leaders;

    • promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives;

    • supporting teen courts and restorative justice efforts; and

    • providing grants to attorneys for services in rural and underserved communities.

    These are just a few of the programs that are able to grow and flourish due to the generous support of Wisconsin Law Foundation donors.

    “We are able to respond to these needs because of the past generosity of our donors,” said Margaret (Peggy) Ahne Herlitzka, Foundation president.

    Kevin and Roseann Lyons

    Kevin and Roseann Lyons have pledged to match all donations, from individuals who have not contributed to the Wisconsin Law Foundation since July 1, 2018, for a cumulative dollar total of up to $25,000.

    Donation Matching Challenge Doubles Your Impact

    Thanks to the Lyons, all donations from individuals who donate to the Wisconsin Law Foundation for the first time and those who have not donated since July 1, 2018, will be matched for a cumulative dollar total of up to $25,000.

    This is the perfect time to make a donation. Your donations (now through June 30, 2022) will be matched in the challenge to make twice the impact, and it will be a real contribution toward furthering the common good.

    No contribution amount is too small. Through grants, awards, and scholarships, the Foundation uses every single dollar to transform the lives of Wisconsin residents and support critical public education projects and public service projects. You can view an additional list of initiatives the Foundation supports by visiting wisbar.org/wlf and by viewing the latest edition of the Foundation’s newsletter.

    “Thank you again for considering the Wisconsin Law Foundation in your charitable giving. Together, we can keep the Foundation going strong for the next generation,” said Herlitzka.

    And now, thanks to the Lyons, your donation will go twice as far.

    When the Pandemic Hit, the Need for Support Doubled

    When the pandemic hit, the Law Foundation saw requests for grants double – as Wisconsin nonprofits fought to stay in business serving their communities. Over the past two years, the Law Foundation was able to make a difference to 10 nonprofits through the its Truman Q. McNulty Grants, including grants to ABC for Health, to provide guidance during the pandemic to the newly unemployed as to what access they would have to health care.

    In Crawford County, a grant kept its teen court program going – helping kids stay out of the justice system. In Madison, a Law Foundation grant helped immigrants receive affordable legal representation through the Catholic Multicultural Center.
