We Need Your Talents: Serve on a State Bar Committee

The State Bar is in need of your talents – and it's a great way to meet lawyers from across the state. State Bar President-elect Chris Rogers invites you to serve on a committee in 2018-19. Apply by April 15.

    Christopher E. Rogers

Feb. 7, 2018 – I hope that you are having a very successful start to 2018. It is hard to believe that the month of January is already behind us. Time moves quickly in our lives and practices, and soon enough the spring and summer months will be upon us. It is then that I will have the privilege to appoint members to State Bar of Wisconsin standing and special committees, effective July 1, 2018.

Christopher RogersChristopher E. Rogers, U.W. 1995, of Habush Habush & Rottier SC, Madison, is president-elect of the State Bar of Wisconsin. Reach him by email.

I encourage you to get involved and volunteer to serve on a State Bar committee. The State Bar needs your talents.

Committees do a significant amount of work for the Bar and its membership, and can provide you an opportunity to become involved in important issues facing the profession. I trust you’ll find the time rewarding. It is also a great way to meet lawyers from all areas of the State of Wisconsin.

I have served on a number of committees throughout my work with the State Bar and have found the work to be meaningful and enjoyable. It has given me a better perspective of what the Bar does and has increased the role of the Bar in my practice. In addition to the rewarding work I’ve engaged in, I have made strong business referrals and personal friendships that I hope last throughout my career and beyond.

If you’ve never volunteered for the State Bar, please consider doing so. Our organization needs new and thoughtful perspectives. It’s the talent of its members that drives the Bar. If you have been active in the past and would like to stay active, we would be thrilled to have you back.

Please take a moment to visit the Leadership Opportunities and committees pages and submit a Volunteer Interest Form to let me know what committees and issues facing Wisconsin lawyers you would like to contribute to.

In addition to the rewarding work I’ve engaged in, I have made strong business referrals and personal friendships.

Appointments to standing committees are for three years, and appointments to special committees are one year. All committee appointments will begin July 1, 2018 – the beginning of the State Bar’s fiscal year.

The deadline for the submission of your interest form is April 15.

Please consider volunteering. The work you accomplish and the satisfaction you achieve will make you glad you did. I very much look forward to meeting and working with you.

    Thanks very much,

    Christopher Rogers, President-elect
