Feb. 3, 2010 – State Bar CLE Seminars’ second in the 2010 series of Breakfast & Business: Eggs, Ethics and Answers comes to Milwaukee on Feb. 17, from 8:15 to 11:30 a.m. Practice411 presents a half-day seminar that will help you protect your practice from a digital disaster and recover after making a serious mistake.
The half-day seminar kicks off with “Safe Computing: Protecting Your Practice and Clients from Digital Disaster,” presented by State Bar Law Office Management Advisor Nerino Petro. In Wisconsin, we’re fortunate not to be affected by natural disasters, such as earthquakes or hurricanes. But “digital disasters” can befall any unwary practitioner. Explore the perils of metadata, inadequate backup, incomplete security, and failure to protect confidential information. Learn how to take steps to avoid them.
The second session is presented by State Bar Ethics Counsel Tim Pierce. “Ooops, What Now? Everyone (including lawyers) Makes Mistakes.” Every lawyer makes mistakes, some serious and some not. If you make a serious error, there are certain steps you must take, such as informing your client and evaluating whether or not you may continue to represent that client. Learn what you should and should not do after a mistake is made, how to work with your legal malpractice insurer, and benefit from some practical suggestions on how to handle a difficult situation.
Tuition is $40 for members and $50 for nonmembers. The cost for Ultimate Pass holders is $15, which covers the cost of the hot breakfast buffet.
The program has been approved for 2.0 CLE and 2.0 EPR credits.
Mark your calendars! Breakfast & Business: Eggs, Ethics and Answers seminars will be coming to Green Bay on March 17, Wausau on April 21, and Hudson on June 23.
