The State Bar's Branding the Profession initiative received a
National Association of Bar Executives (NABE) 2002 Luminary Award for
Excellence in Public Relations at the NABE Communications Section
meeting in St. Louis in October. The award is given for a public
relations effort that exemplifies effectiveness of communications in
getting the Bar's message across to its members and the public.

The State Bar introduced its Branding the Profession initiative and
tag line, Wisconsin Lawyers: Expert advisers. Serving you., in
spring of 2002 to educate the public about the value lawyers bring to
their clients and their communities. The effort incorporates three key
qualities that the public values most about lawyers - problem solving,
expert advice, and community involvement - in communications to the
public.
