The State Bar Law-related Education (LRE)
Committee seeks attorneys to volunteer as judges in the Wisconsin We the
People: The Citizen and the Constitution mock congressional hearing on
Saturday, Jan. 8 at the State Capitol.
We the People: The Citizen and the Constitution is a national program
designed to promote a deeper understanding of the Constitution and the
Bill of Rights among elementary and secondary students. Students become
expert witnesses and testify before a panel of volunteer lawyers who act
as U.S. congressional representatives. The winner advances to the
national hearing in Washington, D.C.
We the People, which is directed by the Center for Civic Education
and funded by the U.S. Department of Education by act of Congress, is
one of the many programs supported by the State Bar LRE Committee. To
volunteer, contact Dee Runaas,
State Bar LRE Coordinator at (800) 444-9414, ext. 6191, (608) 250-6191,
or visit www.legalexplorer.com.
