CLE Books revises Wisconsin Insurance Law
State Bar CLE Books recently released the 2004
edition of Wisconsin
Insurance Law - an indispensable resource frequently
cited by the Wisconsin Supreme Court and Court of Appeals and by
attorneys throughout the state. Written by experienced Wisconsin
litigator Arnold Anderson, this book provides an in-depth treatment of
all aspects of insurance law in Wisconsin. Justice Hugo Black once
stated, "Perhaps no modern commercial enterprise directly affects so
many persons in all walks of life as does the insurance business.
Insurance touches the home, the family, and the occupation or business
of almost every person in the United States." Whatever type of law that
you practice, you can benefit from owning this book because insurance
plays an important part in many aspects of our society.
In addition to providing up-to-date discussion of cases and statutes,
many sections have been significantly expanded, including those dealing
with the constantly evolving areas of reducing clauses and contextual
ambiguity, the mold exclusion, and business risk exclusions. The
appendices include sample language for automobile, general liability,
and homeowner's policies, as well as an underinsured motorist
endorsement.
Attorneys who have used earlier editions highly recommended it.
Claude Covelli, an insurance defense attorney since 1973, described it
as "the definitive source on Wisconsin insurance law," and
"recommend[ed] it to all practitioners, both experienced and less
experienced."Another attorney stated, "[t]hose of us who use this book a
great deal could not go without it, and others may not realize what a
valuable resource it is until it finds a place on the shelf."
The new edition has been reviewed by several prominent Wisconsin
insurance law practitioners, including Robert Burrell, Tim Hawley, John
Higgins, Tom Schrimpf, Sheila Sullivan, Joe Thrasher, and Jim Weis. All
agree Wisconsin practitioners can use this reference with
confidence.
First published in 1983, Wisconsin
Insurance Law became a State Bar CLE Books publication in 2002.
This fifth edition has been completely revised, incorporating all recent
developments in insurance law, while retaining and integrating the
earlier editions and supplements. Insurance Law explains the
law clearly and concisely, covering: interpretation of insurance
contracts; automobile liability insurance; uninsured and underinsured
motorist insurance; general liability policies; fire and property
insurance; insurance companies' duty to defend; insurance companies'
investigation and handling of third-party claims; first-party claims
against insurance companies; subrogation; and responsibilities of
insurance companies, insurance agents, and the insured.
The cost for the two-volume set is $245 plus tax, shipping, and
handling. Current owners who subscribe to the automatic supplementation
service will receive the revision with an invoice for 10 percent off the
regular price.
Meet the author and several of the reviewers at a live CLE Seminar on
April 28 in Madison.
