Order 19-13: Amending Rules Regarding GAL Appointment Qualifications in Family Actions
On April 9, 2019, the Joint Legislative Council filed a rule petition asking the court to amend Supreme Court Rules pertaining to the educational requirements for GAL appointments in actions affecting the family. The amendment would require minimum education relating to dynamics and impact of family violence to be eligible to accept an appointment by a court as a GAL for a minor in an action or proceeding under Wis. Stat. chapter 767.
ORDER ISSUED: Sept. 9, 2019
DISPOSITION: Public hearing set for Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2019, at 9:30 a.m. in the Supreme Court Hearing Room in the State Capitol, Madison, Wis.
