Nov. 21, 2018 – The State Bar of Wisconsin exists to serve its members, the public, and to promote the rule of law and access to justice. To accomplish its mission, the State Bar relies on support from you, the members, who volunteer your time and talents.
We wanted to take this opportunity to say thank you. You volunteer on State Bar committees, working groups, and section and division boards. You offer expertise and knowledge as Wisconsin Lawyer contributors and through CLE seminars.
You do hours of pro bono work. You mentor young lawyers. You help improve access to justice by donating to the Wisconsin Law Foundation, the State Bar’s charitable arm. Your many volunteer contributions cannot be fully recounted here, and many of your volunteer efforts may go unrecognized. But you do it anyway.
And you do it despite the time constraints and obligations of law practice, not to mention personal and family life, and service in your community. Every day, we encounter examples of the extraordinary work that our members do in Wisconsin and beyond.
From protecting individual rights to guiding businesses, from assisting state and local governments to counseling on community projects – the collective work of our members is a foundation for a just and fair society in which lawyers serve as important guardians.
As we travel and meet lawyers throughout the state, it’s clear that the contributions of our diverse membership play a vital role in every rural, urban, and suburban community.
In assisting individuals, communities, businesses, government, and other organizations, our members have great burdens to bear. We take this opportunity to say thank you for the work that you do every day. We know it’s not easy, and we are here to help.
To all the members of the State Bar of Wisconsin, thank you, and Happy Thanksgiving to you and your families.
Sincerely,
President Christopher E. Rogers
