March 7, 2018 – The Wisconsin Law Foundation is seeking applications for grants to promote greater public understanding of the law or improve the administration of justice in Wisconsin.
The Truman Q. McNulty Grants offer up to $2,000 to charitable or educational programs or projects that directly affect Wisconsin residents. The programs should include educational programs that promote public understanding of the law, improvement of the administration of justice, or another law-related public service project.
Since 2011, Centro Legal in Milwaukee County provided free or low-cost legal services to 3,340 people with the help of McNulty grants. Also since 2011, Crawford County and Portage County Teen Court programs used McNulty grants to hear a total of 81 teen court cases. McNulty grants also:
-
helped educate the public on how to navigate the ever-changing health insurance landscape,
-
provided access to legal services and representation to individuals who cannot afford but don’t qualify for legal assistance,
-
helped potential litigants who are learning about the family court process,
-
helped speakers of Hmong and Spanish access the legal system,
-
supported first-time juvenile offenders in teen courts, and
-
supported the State Bar-sponsored High School Mock Trial Tournament and Our Courts Wisconsin program.
In 2017, the Wisconsin Law Foundation awarded more than $$33,500 in grants for law-related educational programs across the state. You can find out more about these programs and other past grant recipients in InsideTrack.
Submit applications no later than April 6.
