    Put Your Leadership Skills to Work: Run for a Position on the State Bar Board of Governors

    Leaders are needed – and now is the chance to put your skills into action and gain valuable leadership experience. Run for a 2018 State Bar Board of Governors’ position. File your petition by March 1.

    Feb. 21, 2018 – Get involved in activities that influence the practice of law and guide the State Bar of Wisconsin by running for a seat on its Board of Governors.

    As a State Bar volunteer, you serve a vital role in providing member and public services while gaining the personal and professional satisfaction of making a difference in the profession and the legal system.

    Consider contributing your time and expertise as a representative on the Board of Governors. The deadline is approaching for the 2018 elections.

    Board of Governors: Petitions Accepted Before March 1

    The Board of Governors is the State Bar's policymaking body. Governors serve two-year terms.

    Districts 2, 4, 6, 8, 9, 10, 12, 14, and 16 will elect governors in 2018. District 2 (Milwaukee) elects five; District 6 (Waukesha) elects two; District 9 (Dane) elects four; and all other districts elect one.

    To be considered for a seat on the Board of Governors, members must submit a petition to the State Bar by March 1, 2018, that is signed by 10 active members in their district.

    Voting Takes Place in April

    The State Bar will mail election ballots by April 13, 2018, and members must returned them by April 27, 2018.

    Persons elected will take office July 1, 2018.
