Anyone who wants exhibits back should contact the Marathon County Clerk of Court's office within 30 days from publication of this notice, which is Jan. 5, 2018.
Dec. 6, 2017 – The Marathon County Clerk of Court’s Office is in the process of evaluating its practices regarding retention of records and exhibits. The clerk’s office has discovered that it still has some exhibits for which the retention period prescribed by SCR Chapter 72 has already expired. However, before destroying these exhibits, the clerk’s office wants to offer them back to the proffering party. Anyone who wants such exhibits back should contact the Marathon County Clerk of Court’s office within 30 days from publication of this notice, which is Jan. 5, 2018.
This offer continues into the future. After the retention period in SCR Chapter 72 expires, the Marathon County Clerk of Court’s Office will return exhibits to the proffering party if that party has requested their return. If no return of exhibits is requested, the exhibits will be destroyed once the retention period expires. Parties will not receive further notice of destruction unless they contact the court before the expiration date.
For more information or to request return of an exhibit, contact the Marathon County Clerk of Court’s Office at (715) 261-1300, visit the court’s website at www.co.marathon.wi.us/Departments/Clerkof Courts.aspx, or email clerkofcourts@co.marathon.wi.us.
