    Deadline to Run for Seat on Board of Governors is March 3

    Board of Governors district mapFeb. 19, 2014 – Member volunteers are the driving force behind State Bar of Wisconsin programs and initiatives. When you get involved, you help shape the future of your Bar and your profession.

    As a State Bar volunteer, you serve a vital role in providing member and public services while gaining the personal and professional satisfaction of making a difference in the profession and the legal system. At the same time, you can gain one of the most valuable skills needed today ... leadership.

    Please consider contributing your time and expertise as an officer or Board of Governors representative.

    Districts 2, 4, 6, 8, 9, 10, 12, 14, and 16 will elect governors in 2014. District 2 (Milwaukee) elects five; District 6 (Waukesha) elects two; District 9 (Dane) elects four; and all other districts elect one. The Board of Governors is the State Bar's policymaking body. Governors serve two-year terms.

    To be considered for a seat on the Board of Governors, members must submit a petition signed by 10 active members in their district at the State Bar by March 3, 2014. To receive a petition, visit the Leadership Opportunities page or contact Jan Marks.

    In Other Elections

    The State Bar will elect a president-elect, a secretary, and a Judicial Council representative and all four divisions will choose presidents-elect in 2014. Visit the 2014 elections page to read the candidate statements.

    Election ballots will be mailed no later than April 11, 2014, and must be returned by April 25, 2014. Persons elected will take office July 1, 2014.
