"Impossible!" you say. Actually, it’s very possible. Whether you’re already rolling on social media or just starting out, there’s a lot you can do in only 10 minutes – for example:

Send a tweet or retweet something

Post or repost content on Facebook or LinkedIn

Post a photo on Instagram

Come up with an idea for a blog post or video

Try these tips for getting the most out of your 10 minutes.

Focus on one platform per day. You’ll be more effective focusing your 10 minutes in one place than spending 3-4 minutes each on multiple platforms. You could devote Mondays to Facebook, Tuesdays to Twitter, and so on.

Try a tool. Tools like Hootsuite and Social Mention help you monitor social media. Find a trending story that’s relevant to your firm and post about it. See what people are saying about you and answer accordingly.

Respond. It’s probably the single most important thing you can do on social media. Although it’s tempting to talk at your followers and clients, they’re far more interested in how you engage with them.

Find interesting stuff. A boring social media page can be a real turnoff. Spend five of your 10 minutes collecting relevant, entertaining, educational stories to share with your audience. Google or Feedly (for tracking websites and blogs) can help.

Create a calendar. As you gather stories and ideas to post, put them into a monthly posting calendar. You’ll be glad you did on the days when you can’t find anything interesting to share. Try following the 1-in-10 Rule: for every 10 posts, only one should be a direct promotion of your business.

Have a plan. Ten minutes isn’t much time, so make every minute count. Start by checking notifications and responding to comments, shares, or posts to your page. Then do some posting. Find content for your calendar and schedule it. Finally, do a quick analysis to determine the content that’s performing best on your account.

Check out these articles for additional ideas:

Diversity. Women in the law. Millennials vs. Baby Boomers. The legal profession faces some tough topics. One woman is inspiring understanding and progress with an innovative initiative – and you can meet her at the 2018 Annual Meeting & Conference.

Attorney Dana Tippin Cutler, 2016-2017 Missouri Bar president, is a featured CLE presenter and will introduce you to the Courageous Collaboration program she helped create. Courageous Collaboration is based on the idea that to overcome challenges you must run toward your fears, not away from them.

Piloted in her own practice, and now an ongoing initiative at the Missouri Bar, Courageous Collaboration provides a safe space for open and honest discussion among lawyers. It’s an opportunity to explore important issues in today’s firms, including:

Work-life balance

Diversity in the workplace

Helping women succeed

The future of client service and the legal profession

Email is essential in almost every office environment. It’s how we communicate with clients, colleagues, and opposing counsel. However, the constant interruption that comes from email can dramatically lower your productivity. To help manage the deluge of email, try these basic guidelines.

Turn off all email notifications, both visual and audible.

Check email only at designated times (for example, first thing in the morning, immediately before lunch, mid-afternoon, and before heading home from the office). And let people know when you check, so they know when to expect a response.

Use filters to route emails from blogs, newsletters, and news feeds to a separate address or to a “To-Read” folder.

Limit internal use of email. If it can be handled quickly with a phone call or in-person discussion, it should be.

Internal emails should be limited to no longer than two brief paragraphs. Anything longer should become a phone call.

Most of us feel overwhelmed by email. Regain control of your time and significantly boost your productivity by implementing ideas like these.
