Admitted in 1969: State Bar Honors 268 50-year Members

Congratulations to the members who became Wisconsin lawyers in 1969! The State Bar is hosting an event to honor the 268 Wisconsin lawyers who this year reach their 50-year milestone.

Feb. 20, 2019 – It was the year of Elvis Presley’s comeback, Neil Armstrong’s first steps on the moon, and when the Viet Nam war prompted the first draft lottery in the U.S. since World War II.

Kids rode Big Wheels for the first time and watched the first episode of Sesame Street on PBS.

The Beatles gave their last public performance, Boeing’s 747 made its inaugural flight, and the first communications were sent through the ARPANET – that is, the internet was born. It is the year of Woodstock, the Manson murders, Judy Garland’s death, the Stonewall riots, the New York Mets win the World Series, and the confirmation of Warren Burger as the chief justice of the U.S. Supreme Court.

And 268 lawyers were admitted to practice in Wisconsin.

This year, the State Bar of Wisconsin is celebrating the lawyers admitted in 1969, reaching their 50-year milestone in the legal profession. If you’re one of our honorees, expect an invitation by mail in early March for a celebratory luncheon on Wednesday, May 8, in Delafield.

If you know of members who were admitted to the State Bar in 1969 whose names are missing from this list, please contact Beth Drake via email, at (608) 250-6171, or at (800) 444-9404, ext. 6171.
