About the Conference

Equip yourself to run a thriving practice. Stay current on the latest legal trends. Unwind and relax with family, friends, and colleagues in beautiful Wisconsin Dells. The 2023 Wisconsin Solo & Small Firm Conference will have you flying circles around the competition!

Designed specifically to address the challenges that small firms face, WSSFC gives you the space to learn, network, and troubleshoot among peers. It’s where you can come to get tips on what to do as your practice grows or to meet new people and expand your connections. You’ll get reliable updates on legal developments in multiple practice areas. You can even share what you wish opposing counsel would stop screwing up and find solutions for the things that are keeping you up at night.

The 2023 Wisconsin Solo and Small Firm Conference (WSSFC) will be fully in-person at the Kalahari Resort in October.

Need financial assistance to attend the conference?

The Solo, Small Firm and General Practice Section is awarding scholarships to attend the 2023 WSSFC.

The Solo, Small Firm, and General Practice Section acknowledges that the cost can sometimes impede the professional development of section members. As a solution, the section is offering scholarship grants that can help with the registration expenses for the conference. Preference for the scholarships will be given to solo practitioners and small firm attorneys who would otherwise be unable to attend the conference due to financial constraints.

Requirement for scholarship recipients:

  • Applicants must be members of the Solo, Small Firm and General Practice Section.
  • Scholarship recipients will be asked to contribute to the mission of the Solo, Small Firm and General Practice Section through future volunteer service to the Section by assisting with conference planning, submitting a blog post or article to the newsletter, and/or serving on either the Section Board or a Board subcommittee.

Scholarships will cover the cost of tuition.

To apply, please complete and submit the scholarship application.

Application deadline is September 15, 2023.

Customize Your Conference Experience

With five powerful plenaries and 32 (confirmed) individual breakout sessions, WSSFC features customizable education, networking, and opportunities to make business exchanges.

CLE, EPR, UPM, and LAU Credits

WSSFC will be submitted to the Wisconsin Board of Bar Examiners for up to 15.5 credit hours. You’ll sign in each morning and choose the best sessions to meet your needs. Depending on the sessions you attend, you can build a schedule from the credit options available, including CLE, EPR, LPM and LAU.

All attendees will self-report their CLE. If you’re looking to obtain additional documentation of sessions attended, please stop by the registration desk at the conference.

What's an LPM/LAU credit?

Effective July 1, 2017, lawyers can earn up to 6.0 hours of Law Practice Management (LPM) and up to 6.0 Lawyer Awareness and Understanding (LAU) credits toward the 30 hours of approved CLE required during a reporting period. See SCR 31.02 (3) and (4) for more information.

Additionally, earn even more credits watching select complimentary webcast replays in November and December.
