The La Crosse County Bar Association (LCBA)
recently partnered with the State Bar to produce a 30-second television
spot featuring the association's efforts to provide food to local
school-aged children and their families. The LCBA provides funds to
support Jim's Grocery Bag to stock food pantries at 11 local schools in
the La Crosse area.
The La Crosse spot will air January through March in the La Crosse
and Eau Claire viewing areas on local Channel 8 WKBT TV and cable
television. The La Crosse spot will be broadcast in conjunction with the
State Bar's spot that currently is airing during the U.W. men's Badger
basketball games through March. That spot, features five ways Wisconsin
lawyers are involved in community service work.
"This is the first time a local bar has partnered with the State Bar
to produce and fund air time for a TV spot specific to that community,"
says Image Committee Chair Kevin Palmersheim. "As our media efforts
rotate throughout the state, we encourage other local bars to partner
with us for an unique opportunity to highlight local community service
efforts."
"LCBA members take community service to heart," according to LCBA
member and Image Committee Cochair Ann Brandau. "One of those members is
Brian Weber, the primary organizer of our annual golf outing. He has
helped change that event into a major fund raiser for Jim's Grocery Bag
- raising more than $10K annually in the last five years."
The Bar introduced its Branding the Profession initiative and tag
line, Wisconsin Lawyers: Expert advisers. Serving you., in the
spring of 2002 to educate the public about the value lawyers bring to
their communities. The initiative uses the three key qualities the
public values most about lawyers - expert advice, problem-solving
skills, and community service - in communications to the public.
Local bars interested in partnering with the State Bar to highlight
their community service efforts may email Dan Rossmiller or call(800)
