State Bar Launches Much Anticipated Our Courts Wisconsin at Historic Richland County Courthouse

    MEDIA ADVISORY
    FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Madison, WI –The State Bar of Wisconsin’s new Our Courts program will host its first presentation, Myths & Realities in Wisconsin’s Courts, at Richland County’s Historic Courthouse on July 10 at 6:30 p.m.

Our Courts Wisconsin brings nonpartisan information presentations to adult audiences to further public knowledge and understanding of the state and federal courts. The program offers four presentations, given by an attorney and a judge, which are available at no charge to civic organizations and school groups throughout the state. Myths & Realities is a humorous presentation, where presenters showcase pop culture depictions of court proceedings, and analyze these portrayals of the court system with help from the audience.

Andrea GageFor more information contact Attorney Andrea Gage, public relations coordinator, State Bar of Wisconsin. She can be reached at agage@wisbar.org, or by phone at (608) 250-6025.

“We will be able to stimulate discussion about the legal proceedings being depicted, and in the process increase the base of knowledge of audience members,” said former Richland County Circuit Court Judge Edward Leineweber, who will be co-presenting on July 10 with Attorney Bill Weigel. “We’re hoping this will serve to increase audience appreciation for and confidence in the courts.”

In addition to Myths & Realities, community organizations can choose from the following programs: Lincoln’s Legacy, Understanding the Criminal Court Process: Protecting the Rights of Wisconsin Citizens, and Understanding the Importance of Your Court System: Courts Serving Wisconsin Citizens.
