Milwaukee attorney becomes chair of Board

July 17, 2000 - James M. Brennan, Chief Staff Attorney of the Legal Aid Society of Milwaukee's Civil Division, has been named the new chair of the State Bar of Wisconsin's Board of Governors.

Brennan officially assumed the position July 1, and will serve during the bar's current fiscal year, which runs until June 30, 2001. Brennan has served on the Board of Governors representing Milwaukee lawyers since July of 1997, has served on the State Bar's Executive Committee for the past two years, and has been long active in several other bar commitees and sections.

In his role as chair of the Board, Brennan will chair the Executive Committee, which manages and directs the affairs of the association.

Brennan has been an attorney with the Legal Aid Society of Milwaukee since he graduated from Marquette Law School in 1976. The Legal Aid Society was founded in 1916 and its 24 staff attorneys serve Milwaukee's poor and disadvantaged adults and children.
