    Supreme Court seeks volunteers for BAPR

    Madison, May 20, 1999 - The Wisconsin Supreme Court is seeking lawyers and members of the public to volunteer for service on the Board of Attorneys Professional Responsibility (BAPR), an agency of the Court that is responsible for investigating grievances involving possible attorney misconduct or medical incapacity. BAPR meets in various locations around the state approximately every six weeks.

    In addition to investigating and prosecuting misconduct cases, the Board and the staff participate in efforts to educate attorneys on professional responsibility topics.

    BAPR is composed of eight lawyers and four public members. Each is selected by the Wisconsin Supreme Court and may serve a maximum of two three-year terms. The current openings are for two lawyers and one public member. Applicants should send a cover letter and resume to the Clerk of the Supreme Court, PO Box 1688, Madison, WI 53701-1688. Letters and resumes will be reviewed for the current openings and kept on file for consideration as other opportunities arise.
