Madison attorney elected State Bar President-Elect
Feb. 18, 2000 - Madison attorney Gerald Mowris has
been named President-elect of the State Bar of Wisconsin after winning a
statewide election of Wisconsin lawyers.
The 51-year-old Mowris will serve as President-elect for one year,
beginning July 1st. He will then take office as president of the bar for
a one-year term July 1, 2001.
Mowris defeated Madison attorney Jim Jaeger in the statewide election.
He will succeed New Richmond attorney Gary Bakke as president. Bakke's
term runs from July 1, 2000 to June 30, 2001.
Mowris is a 1973 graduate of the University of Wisconsin Law School, and
is a Partner at the Madison law firm of Pellino, Rosen, Mowris &
Kirkhuff. He also served for six years during the 1970's as an assistant
district attorney in Dane County.
Mowris currently serves on several State Bar boards, including the bar's
Board of Governors, the Criminal Law Section Legislative Committee and
the boards of the Criminal Law and Family Law Sections. Mowris served as
President of the Dane County Bar Association from 1995-1996.
