    Meet the candidates for 2012 State Bar elections

    State Bar members will elect a president-elect, a secretary, and a Judicial Council Representative this spring. Read officer candidate statements. District governor and division presidents-elect deadlines near.

    Board of Governors District mapDistricts 2, 4, 6, 8, 9, 10, 12, 14, and 16 will elect governors in 2012. District 2 (Milwaukee) elects five; District 9 (Dane) elects four; and all other districts elect one. The Board of Governors is the State Bar's policymaking body. Governors serve two-year terms.

    Division elections

    Government Lawyers Division (GLD) members will choose three division directors to serve two-year terms. GLD ballots are sent electronically, and winners will be announced the week of April 30. GLD members who do not have an email address on file with the State Bar will receive their ballots in the U.S. mail. All ballots are sent the week of April 9.

    Nonresident Lawyers Division (NRLD) members will choose a president-elect for a one-year term and five directors to serve two-year terms.

    Senior Lawyers Division (SLD) members will choose a president-elect for a one-year term and four directors to serve two-year terms.

    Young Lawyers Division (YLD) members will choose a division president-elect. YLD directors and other officers were elected during 2012 Young Lawyers Leadership Development Conference on March 30 in Milwaukee. 

    The Government and Nonresident Lawyers divisions sent electronic election ballots to members who have email addresses on file with the State Bar. Those members who do not have an email address on file with the State Bar received paper ballots. The totals will be combined, and the winners will be announced on Monday, April 30.  All other election results will be announced on Friday, April 27.
