    ‘Toward Justice for All’: Judge Everett Mitchell to Speak at Equal Justice Conference on March 10

    Jan. 18, 2017 – Learn about recent equal justice efforts and hear Dane County Circuit Court Judge Everett Mitchell as the plenary speaker at the 2017 Wisconsin Equal Justice Conference in March.

    Save the date for March 10 – the conference takes place at the State Bar Center in Madison.

    The biannual conference brings together law schools, the private bar, legal aid organizations, policy makers, and the judiciary to discuss creating access to the legal system for low-income and disadvantaged Wisconsin residents who face legal issues.

    “It’s a great way to learn about what’s new and what’s working in other places,” said Jeff Brown, pro bono coordinator for the State Bar of Wisconsin.

    The conference’s plenary speaker, Judge Mitchell, will address the topic of access to justice in the broader context of our society in his talk, “Working Toward Justice for All,” about filling the emotional, spiritual, and legal needs of the community.

    Other highlights of the day include a welcome from Wisconsin Supreme Court Chief Justice Patience Roggensack, and sessions on Victims of Crime Act funding, innovations in courts and self-help resources, communications and messaging, and technology.

    There will also be updates on the work of the Legal Assistance Committee and the Wisconsin Access to Justice Commission.

    Enjoy the networking luncheon, share your ideas in the afternoon sessions around key aspects regarding access to justice efforts in Wisconsin.
