    State Bar of Wisconsin Seeking Candidates for Executive Director Position

    Sept. 22, 2016 – The State Bar of Wisconsin is soliciting applications for the position of executive director to succeed its current executive director, George Brown, who announced his upcoming retirement after 16 years in that position.

    Created by the Wisconsin Supreme Court, the State Bar is a mandatory professional association with more than 25,000 members who hold a Wisconsin law license.

    The executive director, based in Madison, is the chief executive officer of the State Bar staff and recommends and participates with the elected leadership of the State Bar in formulating policies and programs and is responsible for their implementation.

    The executive director also oversees the management of State Bar operations, finances and its human and capital resources, including the development of staff leadership, diversity, training, and building capacity within the organization to meet member needs.

    In addition to having experience managing large staffs and budgets, the successful candidate should have advanced planning and leadership skills that inspire creativity and effect positive change. It is also important to possess experience or familiarity with current and emerging issues and concerns affecting practicing lawyers and the legal profession.
