State Bar Honors Herrling Clark for Major Donation to National Mock Trial 2014

Madison, WI – The State Bar of Wisconsin is recognizing law firm Herrling Clark Ltd. for its generous donation to the 2014 National High School Mock Trial Championship, which will be hosted by the State Bar in Madison next May.

The State Bar and its charitable arm, the Wisconsin Law Foundation, have set a $200,000 fundraising goal to help cover the cost of venues, awards, activities and materials for participants, who in recent years have hailed from 46 states, Guam, the Commonwealth of Northern Mariana Islands, and South Korea. Herrling Clark, headquartered in Appleton, is being honored as a Bronze Gavel sponsor ($5,000-$9,999).

“Herrling Clark is pleased to be a part of such a prestigious event,” said the firm’s vice president, Attorney Kevin Longeran. “The national competition is an opportunity to showcase our state to many energetic, smart young men, women and their families.”

Lonergan, who has coached mock trial teams for years, said those who do not have the time to volunteer can still support young people who immerse themselves in the inner workings of the U.S. justice system in an effort to win the national title.

“Giving to National Mock Trial is more than just a simple donation. It is an investment in young people who are learning to think on their feet, speak in public, and become the lawyers, doctors, and accomplished professionals of tomorrow,” said Lonergan. “On behalf of Herrling Clark, I urge other law firms, local businesses and individuals to financially back this important endeavor.”
