April 1, 2015 – This month, State Bar members will elect a president-elect, treasurer, Judicial Council representative, district governors, and division officers and board members. For State Bar officers and district governors, ballots will be sent in early April and are due by April 24.

Elect a President-elect, Treasurer, and Judicial Council Representative
The State Bar’s officers influence the future of the State Bar as well as set its policy direction. Your vote for officers will make a difference in the future of the organization that supports the practice of law in Wisconsin.
Officer positions up for election are president-elect, treasurer, and Judicial Council representative. Ballots for the officers and governors positions will be mailed the week of April 6, 2015.

The president-elect serves a one-year term before becoming president. The treasurer holds the position for two years, while the Judicial Council representative serves a three-year term.
18 Board of Governors Positions Up for Election
The Board of Governors is the State Bar's policymaking body, managing and directing the affairs and activities of the State Bar. Governors serve two-year terms. Your vote for your district governor is an important way to have a voice in the State Bar’s direction, services and policies.
In 2015, Districts 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 9, 11, 13, and 15 will elect governors. The number of positions varies by district: District 2 (Milwaukee) elects seven; District 6 (Waukesha) elects one; District 9 (Dane) elects three; and all other districts elect one.
Ballots for the officers and governors positions will be mailed the week of April 6, 2015. If you are unsure which district you belong to, view the district map.

Division Elections: Government, Nonresident, and Young Lawyers Divisions Ballots Delivered Electronically
The State Bar divisions promote greater communication, networking, and business opportunities among member lawyers with similar interests and experience. The board members of each division set the tone for each division, send representatives to the State Bar’s Board of Governors, and produce the division’s newsletter. For the Government, Nonresident and Young Lawyers divisions, membership is free if you qualify.
This spring, the division elections will be conducted via email for the Nonresident, Government and Young Lawyers divisions. On April 8, ballots will be sent via email to members with email addresses on file with the State Bar. They are due no later than April 24.

To ensure that you receive your electronic ballot to vote in the division elections, please remember the following:
Only these three State Bar divisions are handling elections electronically. Ballots for State Bar officers and governors will be mailed. If you do not open the paper mail at your office, alert the person who does to not discard your State Bar of Wisconsin paper Ballot for president-elect, treasurer, Board of Governors, and Judicial Council offices. It is clearly marked “BALLOT” on the outside of the envelope.
Add noreply@directvote.net as an approved sender in your inbox today. This prevents the ballot from being identified as spam.
If you belong to more than one division, the email you receive will contain all of the ballots and candidate statements for each division in which you are eligible to vote.
If you have placed any “holds” on email from the State Bar, you may not receive an electronic ballot. Call Customer Service at (800) 728-7788 to verify that your account is set up to receive your email ballot.
Division elections will begin with an email notice on April 8 and close at midnight on April 24. Paper ballots for other State Bar positions will be mailed April 6.
