Nominate a solo or small firm lawyer for the 2010 John Lederer Service Award
Named in memory of Oregon, Wis., attorney John Lederer, this award is presented to an individual, group, or organization exemplifying Lederer’s leadership, spirit, and dedication. Lederer saw it as his mission to help solo and small firm lawyers master skills and technology to build their practices. Nominations are due Aug. 2.
Award criteria
Nominees must demonstrate leadership in furthering the mission of the WSSFC, to educate and support solo and small firm attorneys as they practice the law, manage their businesses and enjoy their lives. Nominees are judged on their sustained, selfless service to projects, efforts, or organizations that benefit solo and small firm practitioners across Wisconsin. Nominees should contribute to the advancement of solo and small firm practitioners technology, legal education, practice management, ethics or quality of life.
Nominating procedure
Send nominations detailing the reasons why the nominee should receive the award, a resume, or similar presentation of background. Include three letters of recommendation. Submit nominations to Julie Ethridge before Aug. 2, 2010. |
July 7, 2010 – The Wisconsin Solo & Small Firm Conference (WSSFC), Oct. 28 – 30 in Wisconsin Dells, includes more than 30 education and training sessions in four different tracks and plenary sessions. Plenary sessions. On Thursday afternoon, Matt Homann, St. Louis, will make the case for adding a dose of innovation to your practice, as he shares dozens of unique tips and ideas about alternative billing strategies, creative marketing techniques and proven customer-service principles. Homann is the founder of LexThink LLC, an “Innovation Consultancy” for lawyers and law firms.. Homann writes and speaks about innovation, creativity, customer service, technology, social media, and alternative billing methods.
On Friday morning Judi Craig of Atticus, will present “Make Rain, Not Mist.”
Craig is a master certified coach and a senior practice advisor with Atticus, where she works with attorneys who want to proactively learn how to modify their practices to better serve their lives and their clients. Craig has coached attorneys since 1996 and has a great deal of experience in advising them on how to increase their incomes, decrease their stress and time in the office, and take control of staffing headaches.
The fifth annual WSSFC is co-hosted by the State Bar and the Milwaukee Bar Association.
