March 4, 2009 – The State Bar Public Interest Law Section (PILS) will present a free, on-demand training titled, “Medical Debt in Wisconsin: Strategies & Practical Tips for Volunteer Lawyers.” The program is produced by the Public Interest Law Section and ABC for Health, Inc., with the support of a State Bar Pro Bono Initiative grant. This program is free for attorneys who commit to provide pro bono service to low-income clients.
Experienced attorneys from both the private and public sector will speak about emerging policies and practices related to medical debt in Wisconsin and options for health care coverage. The Hon. W. Scott McAndrew, Madison, will offer a court commissioner’s perspective. Topics also include practical tips on defending collection actions and considerations for consumers in tough economic times.
The program has been submitted for up to 4.0 CLE credits.
