April 1, 2009 - The State Bar will elect a president-elect, treasurer, Judicial Council representative, and district governors this month. Voting will be conducted by mailed ballots, which will be sent out on or before April 10 and must be received by the Bar not later than April 24. The winning candidates will assume their offices on July 1.
Candidates for president-elect are James C. Boll Jr. and James Troupis, both of Madison. Candidates for treasurer are Margaret Wrenn Hickey and Kevin J. Lyons, both of Milwaukee. Candidates for Judicial Council representative are Thomas W. Bertz, Stevens Point, and Mary E. Burke, Madison. Candidates for Division presidents-elect are Melanie Swank, Milwaukee, Government Lawyers; Gordon G. Kirsten, Wichita, Ks., Nonresident Lawyers; Joseph A. Melli, Madison, Senior Lawyers; and Jill M. Kastner, Glendale, Young Lawyers.
Districts 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 9, 11, 13, and 15 will elect governors in 2009. District 2 (Milwaukee County) will elect seven governors; District 9 (Dane County), three; and all other districts, one. Find out who’s running in your district.
