Inside the Bar April 2005: WisBar's new design includes My State Bar

The April launch of the redesigned State Bar Web site, WisBar, offers several new capabilities for members. The My State Bar feature, located in the upper right corner of WisBar, allows members to track their CLE credits, update address or other contact information, indicate areas of interest, view State Bar products and events related to those interests, view dues and assessment payment history, and committee, section, or division memberships, and manage electronic lists. This is the first in a series of articles that will help guide members through WisBar's new features.

After you click on My State Bar, you will be asked to log in. After logging in, go to My State Bar to view your password-protected profile. Accessing most WisBar pages does not require logging in, except when ordering products or registering for events (which applies relevant members discounts), to view and edit profile information, and to access restricted content in section and other areas.

My Profile. Once you are logged in, you can perform a variety of tasks. While in My State Bar, you can update your profile, including:

    • Changing your address - Update your contact information, including email address, on file at the State Bar. New information is reflected on WisBar within 24 - 48 hours, as well as in the searchable Lawyer Directory.
    • Adding languages - If you are fluent in other languages, enter them into your profile, and that information will be displayed in Lawyer Directory.

You also can access several other important areas from My State Bar.

My CLE Tracker. This feature automatically tracks credits earned through State Bar CLE programs. If you earn credits from another provider, you can enter that information here.

My Memberships. View a history of your State Bar committee, section, and division memberships.

My Activities. View your meeting history and dues, assessment, and other financial information. You also can view a history of publications and products that you have ordered online.

My Interests. Take a moment to enter your areas of interest. Click on "Edit" and select your areas of interest from a list of more than 50 topics. Whenever you return to My State Bar, related products or upcoming seminars and events within those areas will display under Events of Interest or Products of Interest.

My eLists. View a list of electronic lists you belong to; subscribe and unsubscribe here. By clicking on the link, you can access the message archive. Some lists are open only to members of various work groups and sections.

A Frequently Asked Questions area also is available on the left navigation bar in the My State Bar area.
