Law Foundation offers grants to charitable and law-related educational programs, applications due April 6

Feb. 15, 2012 – The Wisconsin Law Foundation (WLF) is soliciting applications, by April 6, for grants of up to $2,000 for fiscal year 2012 - 13, from July 1, 2012 to June 30, 2013. Requests must support charitable or educational programs that promote public understanding of the law, the improvement of administration of justice, or another law-related public service.

“The foundation’s mission is to make a difference through law-related programs that educate and serve the public,” says Mark Pennow, Grants Committee chair. “During the current fiscal year, the Foundation made grants to programs and projects that educate the public on health care reform, smooth the way through bankruptcy issues for pro se litigants, help Spanish-speaking residents understand family court issues, start-up two new teen court programs, and support the State Bar-sponsored Mock Trial Program and Our Courts, a new State Bar-sponsored program in the development stages. The Foundation is proud to support programs that directly affect Wisconsin residents, and the committee looks forward to offering another round of grants this year.

“As membership increases, the Foundation can support more programs,” says Pennow. “I urge State Bar members to join the Foundation. It’s easy to join and a great way to give back to Wisconsin, your community, and the profession.”

The WLF is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization, and all gifts are tax deductible to the extent provided by the law. The foundation is open to all State Bar members. Membership begins with a $50 donation.
