Law Foundation Grants Available for Charitable and Public Education Programs – Apply by April 1

Grants of up to $2,400 are available for programs that help public understanding of the legal system. Past recipients include ABC for Health, Inc., and teen court programs across the state. Apply by April 1, 2022.

Feb. 16, 2022 – Spread the word: The Wisconsin Law Foundation seeks grant applications for charitable or educational programs that promote greater public understanding of the law and the improvement of the administration of justice, or are an educational program or project that directly affects Wisconsin residents.

Thanks to donations from State Bar members, the Foundation annually provides high-impact Truman Q. McNulty grants of $1,000 to $2,400 each to projects that directly impact Wisconsin residents.

Take, for example, the Briarpatch Youth Services’ Restorative Justice Program. A Foundation McNulty grant helps the program assist more than 3,000 youth and their families.

In 2021, the Foundation awarded $18,835 in grants to 10 organizations – including Briarpatch – that help children and families, support teen court programs, assist those who can’t afford legal representation, create a safer intake process in Milwaukee to eliminate large indoor crowds, and promote public understanding of the law and legal history.

Find out more about past recipients on the Foundation’s webpage and in the Aug. 4, 2021, issue of InsideTrack.

More details about the grants are available on the McNulty Grant Guidelines and Instructions webpage.

    Apply by April 1, 2022

To apply, visit the Foundation’s grants webpage for application instructions, or contact Beth Drake at WLF-Fellows@wisbar.org, (608) 250-6171, or (800) 444-9404, ext. 6171.

Past grants supported projects to educate the public on health care reform, guide pro se litigants through bankruptcy issues, assist Spanish-speaking residents understand family court issues, and provide prevention and intervention assistance to first-time juvenile offenders in teen court programs.
