Comments are requested as to whether incumbent U.S. Magistrate Judge James R. Sickel should be recommended by the panel for reappointment by the court. Submit comments no later than May 31, 2020.
April 15, 2020 – The current term of office of part-time U.S. Magistrate Judge James R. Sickel in the Eastern District of Wisconsin, Green Bay Division, expires on Dec. 8, 2020.
The U.S. District Court is required by law to establish a panel of citizens to consider the reappointment of the magistrate judge to a new four-year term.
The duties of the part-time magistrate judge position include the following:

trial and disposition of misdemeanor cases;

conduct of mediation of civil cases assigned to the district judge sitting in Green Bay; and
-
review and issuance of search and arrest warrants and similar process presented by the U.S. Attorney’s Office and other federal law enforcement agencies.
Comments from members of the bar and public are invited as to whether panel should recommend the incumbent magistrate judge for reappointment by the court. Direct comments by May 31, 2020, to:
