Volunteer Lawyers Project Offers Training for Pro Bono Lawyers

Legal Action of Wisconsin's Volunteer Lawyers Project invites lawyers to serve clients throughout Legal Action's 39-county service area. Find out more about the Project's free training opportunities for pro bono lawyers with Legal Action of Wisconsin.

Oct. 3, 2018 – Legal Action of Wisconsin’s Volunteer Lawyers Project (VLP) fall training series begins Oct. 15.

The VLP offers free, CLE-approved training to lawyers who commit to providing pro bono legal services to Legal Action of Wisconsin’s low-income clients.

The annual series of seminars for 2018 are:

    • La Crosse, Oct. 15: family law, including rules of evidence in family court and guardian ad litem training.

    • Madison, Oct. 18 and 19: consumer law and unemployment compensation.

    • Milwaukee, Oct. 30-Nov. 1: representing clients in bankruptcy, eliminating barriers to employment, basic divorce, and representing clients with small estates.

The Volunteer Lawyers Project offers this training to recruit and support lawyers who provide pro bono legal services to low income residents of the 39 southernmost counties in Wisconsin.

This is an especially important time to get involved in pro bono legal services, while the number of people needing assistance increases and funding for legal services providers has been drastically reduced.

More information about the VLP’s work and its training program is available on the VLP website or by calling (414) 278-7722 or (888) 278-0633.
