If you have recently provided 50 hours of qualifying pro bono legal services to benefit low-income Wisconsin residents, you may already be a member of the new Wisconsin Pro Bono Honor Society
April 16, 2014 – The Wisconsin Access to Justice Commission and the State Bar of Wisconsin Pro Bono Program are pleased to announce the creation of the Wisconsin Pro Bono Honor Society. The Pro Bono Honor Society recognizes Wisconsin lawyers who volunteer their time to help improve the administration of justice and expand access to justice for low-income Wisconsin residents.
How can you join?
If you have provided at least 50 hours of qualifying pro bono legal services to benefit low-income Wisconsin residents in the preceding calendar year and you would like to be included among this first group of honorees, we have prepared a simple online form that allows you to nominate yourself. Nominations must be received by 5 p.m. on April 30, 2014.
What does inclusion in the Wisconsin Pro Bono Honor Society mean?
An annual list of the honorees will be posted on the websites for the Access to Justice Commission, the State Bar, and the Wisconsin Court System. The commission will also work with associations and judges to organize local recognition events. Other benefits to recognize your service are in evelopment.
We hope that inclusion in the Pro Bono Honor Society will support and encourage pro bono service in Wisconsin. You can always find pro bono opportunities that fit your interests and skills through the searchable online pro bono directory on the State Bar’s website.
Submit your nomination. If you have questions about the Pro Bono Honor Society, please contact us.
