First Session – Ethical Considerations in the Use of Social Media for Investigations, Fact Gathering, Juror Research, and Networking
The veritable explosion of social media use presents potential ethical pitfalls for lawyers in many situations, including formal and informal fact gathering, preparing for trial and marketing their practices.
This session is presented by Courtney Ward-Reichard and Christy Mennen, shareholders at Nilan Johnson Lewis PA in Minneapolis. Ward-Reichard defends corporate clients in litigation regarding chemical exposure, employment law claims, and commercial disputes. Mennen focuses on defense of recreational, industrial and consumer product claims involving personal injury, wrongful death and property damage.
Second Session – Avoiding Malpractice using the New Breed of Practice Management Tools
There are a number of malpractice traps that can be avoided by simply using modern practice management tools including calendaring, time and billing, and more. Learn how they can help you avoid becoming an OLR statistic and help you organize your practice to run more effectively and efficiently, while becoming more mobile in the process. Leverage new cloud-based tools to give you anywhere, anytime access to the data you need to ethically represent your clients.
This session is presented by Nerino Petro, State Bar practice management advisor. Petro has 14 years of solo legal practice experience, and 12 years as CEO of CenCom Legal Technologies, which he founded to help lawyers and their staff deal with the practice management issues facing them.
