About the Wisconsin Lawyer Directory

Every State Bar of Wisconsin member receives a free copy of the Wisconsin Lawyer Directory, published annually in January. The publication includes:

  • an alphabetical roster of the more than 20,000 Wisconsin-licensed lawyers, including business affiliations, addresses, phone and fax numbers and mail addresses;

  • an alphabetical roster of Wisconsin law firms;

  • a geographical roster, with instate attorneys listed by county and city, and nonresident members listed by state and city;

  • a color-coded biography section, a key resource for making referrals and selecting co-counsel (these paid listings, organized by city and state, outline law firms' practice areas, representative clients, and lawyers' professional and educational backgrounds):

  • a listing of federal, state and Native American tribal courts;

  • a listing of state executive officers and selected state offices, including key offices in the Justice, Revenue, Transportation and Health and Social Services departments;

  • State Bar of Wisconsin information, including bylaws, officers, committees, sections, divisions, member services and staff contacts;

  • addresses and contacts for local bar associations and law-related agencies;

  • a directory of businesses providing law-related products and services;

  • an index to Wisconsin Lawyer articles (only the preceding year; for example, the 2002 edition includes an index to articles published in 2001); and

  • the Lawyer-to-Lawyer Directory, a listing of more than 800 attorneys who offer brief free telephone consultations to other Wisconsin lawyers facing unfamiliar areas of law.
