Steve Berryman, Northwestern 1995, has been appointed president of SKYGEN USA, Menomonee Falls. He formerly was chief legal officer.

Katie Hinkle, Loyola-Chicago 2014 magna cum laude, and Kyle Jones, U.W. 2018 cum laude, have joined Carlson Black O’Callaghan & Battenberg LLP, Madison. Hinkle, a partner, handles complex commercial real estate acquisition, disposition, financing, and leasing transactions. She previously practiced with Michael Best & Friedrich and Sidley Austin. Jones, an associate, focuses on general business and real estate. He previously was with Godfrey, Leibsle, Blackbourn & Howarth.

Megan M. Carollo, William Mitchell 2004, has joined One Law Group S.C., De Pere, as a shareholder. Her primary practice areas are immigration and criminal law. She previously operated her own practice, M.C. Law Group LLC.

William E. (Bill) Connors, U.W. 1989, is the new executive director of Smart Growth Greater Madison Inc. Smart Growth engages in public policy advocacy, primarily at the municipal government level, on behalf of real estate developers and other businesses active in the real property development sector in the Madison area. He previously was president of the Sun Prairie City Council.

Sara Flaherty, Marquette 2019, has joined Godfrey & Kahn S.C. in its data privacy and cybersecurity practice in the Milwaukee office. She assists clients in implementing data privacy and cybersecurity programs compliant with state, federal, and international legal regulations such as the California Consumer Privacy Act and the European Union’s General Data Privacy Regulations.

Christopher M. Hayden, Marquette 2017, has joined Gimbel, Reilly, Guerin & Brown LLP, Milwaukee, with the civil litigation and real estate team. He previously worked for a suburban Milwaukee law firm. He represents clients in matters including contract disputes, construction law, real estate, and product liability defense.

Lauren C. Capitini, Maryland 2007 cum laude, and Jessica M. Zeratsky, Marquette 2003, have joined Husch Blackwell LLP with the financial services and capital markets industry group and banking and finance practice. Capitini, who is senior counsel in the firm’s Madison office, focuses on assisting financial services clients with regulatory and compliance issues, particularly those in the consumer finance sector. She also is with the firm’s cannabis, consumer financial services, and credit unions practices. Zeratsky is a partner in the Milwaukee office. She focuses on commercial and creditor rights, banking and commercial finance, public finance, bankruptcy and restructuring, real estate, and general debtor and creditor matters. She also is with the firm’s insolvency and commercial bankruptcy and real estate finance practices.

Four lawyers have joined the divorce and family law team at Karp & Iancu S.C., Milwaukee. Daniel L. Lambert, San Diego 2004, and Lindsey M. White, Western Michigan 2011, focus on complex divorce and family law litigation. Lauren L. Otte, Marquette 2018, and Anna E. Rinehart, Marquette 2015, focus on divorce and family law matters, including mediation, restraining orders, and postjudgment family law matters.

Nathan Kollath, Valparaiso 2009, has joined the litigation practice group at the Madison office of Axley. He practices primarily in commercial litigation, insurance defense, tax assessment defense for municipalities, and contract review and negotiations.

Anna L. Loess, DePaul 1999, has joined DeWitt LLP in the Madison office. Her practice focuses on elder law, estate planning, probate and trust matters, and family law, including divorce and legal separation, maintenance, child support, physical placement and custody, property division, paternity, grandparent visitation, same-sex litigation, litigation cases involving never-married parties, and prenuptial and postnuptial marital property agreements.

Joshua B. Cronin, Marquette 2007 magna cum laude, John A. Rubin, U.W. 2009 cum laude, and Brian J. Seidl, U.W. 2019, have joined von Briesen & Roper s.c. Cronin, a shareholder, is with the litigation and risk management practice group and the divorce and family law section in the Milwaukee and Waukesha offices. He formerly was a Waukesha County Family Court Commissioner. Rubin is a member of the labor and employment section in the Waukesha office. Previously, he was a field and trial attorney for the National Labor Relations Board. Seidl is a member of the government law group and the employment section in the Madison office.

Bryan Whitehead, Marquette 2015, has been promoted to partner at Nowlan & Mouat LLP, Janesville. His practice areas include civil litigation, estate planning, municipal law, real estate law, and corporate law.

Stephanie G. Rapkin, California Western 1982, has moved her law office to 1001 W. Glen Oaks Lane, Suite 233, Mequon.

Appointments, Elections

Russell Feingold, Harvard 1977, has been named president of the American Constitution Society. Feingold represented Wisconsin in the U.S. Senate for 18 years and served as chair and ranking member of the Senate Judiciary Committee’s Subcommittee on the Constitution. Before that, Feingold spent 10 years in the Wisconsin State Senate. He also has taught constitutional law at Stanford Law School, Yale Law School, Marquette University Law School, and Harvard Law School.

Jennifer A. Hannon, New England 2000, has been appointed managing partner of the Madison office of Godfrey & Kahn S.C. Her practice continues to focus on estate planning, business succession, and tax exemption matters. Hannon also is an adjunct professor at the U.W. Law School, teaching estate planning law.

The Wisconsin Supreme Court has appointed the Hon. Mary E. Triggiano, U.W. 1988, as chief judge of the First Judicial Administrative District, Milwaukee County. She is a Milwaukee County Circuit Court judge and a member of the Wisconsin Supreme Court’s Judicial Education Committee and Committee on Child Welfare.

Awards, Degrees, Honors

Courtney A. Hollander, U.W. 2014, has received the Investment Adviser Certified Compliance Professional (IACCP) designation. Hollander is a member of the tax, securities and business, and corporate law sections in the Oshkosh and Milwaukee offices of von Briesen & Roper s.c. She focuses on a wide variety of tax matters and advises investment clients on topics including the Investment Advisers Act of 1940, compliance program rules, ethics, trading and brokerage, Form ADV disclosure and advertising, and compliance mandates such as SEC Regulation S-P.

Retirements

Meg Gaines, U.W. 1983, retired in April from the Center for Patient Partnerships and as a clinical professor at the U.W. Law School. Gaines has served on national boards and committees including the National Quality Forum; the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering & Medicine; the National Cancer Institute; the American Board of Internal Medicine Foundation; and the Gynecologic Oncology Group. Her most recent publication is a coauthored article that exposes the practice of claims denial despite prior authorization and appears in the January 2020 issue of JAMA.

Donna Kuehn, Northern Illinois 1981, is retiring after practicing family law for more than 30 years, most recently with Kuehn Law Offices LLC, Waunakee.
