    Appointments, Elections

    Gregory S. Mager, Marquette 1997, and Peggy L. Podell, Marquette 1986 cum laude, have been elected to positions with the ABA's Family Law Section. Mager has been named co-vice chair of the section's trial practice and techniques committee, and Podell has been elected section vice chair.     Ann M. Maher, Marquette 1988 cum laude, and Kenneth R. Nowakowski, Northwestern 1980, have been elected to the board of directors of Whyte Hirschboeck Dudek S.C., Milwaukee. Maher, who leads the firm's litigation practice group, concentrates in business and employment litigation and dealership, distribution, and antitrust related matters.     Pro Bono, Public Service

    Robert L. Habush, U.W. 1961, the Howard Eisenberg family, and Marquette University officials honored the late Howard Eisenberg by dedicating the Eisenberg Memorial Hall at Marquette Law School on Aug. 29. Eisenberg was dean of the law school when he died. Habush had earlier donated $500,000 to refurbish the hall, which originally was to bear his name. He is chairman of Habush Habush & Rottier, which has 11 offices statewide.

    Authors, Speakers

    Robert E. Meldman, Marquette 1962, taught a course on international taxation in Brisbane, Australia, as part of an exchange program between the University of Queensland TC Beirne School of Law and Marquette Law School. He previously has taught at Marquette as part of the program, which alternates between the U.S. and Australia each summer. Meldman is a shareholder with the Milwaukee office of Reinhart Boerner Van Deuren s.c.

    Dianne Post, U.W. 1979, has written "Women's Rights in Russia: Training Non-Lawyers to Represent Victims of Domestic Violence," 4 Yale Human Rights & Dev. L.J. 135 (2001), "Women, Violence and Equality: Analysis and Commentary on Russian Law," J. E.     Awards, Degrees, Honors

    For the second consecutive year, Foley & Lardner has received a CIO-100 award from CIO magazine. The award recognizes the top 100 companies worldwide that exemplify leadership in business or organizational excellence, by effectively integrating technology and processes to improve efficiency and cost effectiveness.

    Godfrey & Kahn S.C., with offices in Appleton, Green Bay, Madison, Milwaukee, and Waukesha, has been ranked third nationwide in an American Banker Magazine list of legal advisors for bank and thrift mergers, based on the deal value of domestic mergers through June 2002.

    The ABA's Family Law Section has created an award in honor of James J. Podell, Michigan 1967. The award, which will be given annually to the person who best exemplifies a commitment to lawyer education, recognizes Podell's work in continuing legal education as a speaker, writer, and editor. He is with Podell & Podell, Milwaukee, which restricts its practice to divorce law.

    Carlton D. Stansbury, Iowa 1990 with distinction, has received the ABA Family Law Section Chair's award for his meritorious service as chair of the section's publications development board. He is a shareholder with Burbach & Stansbury S.C., Milwaukee.
