    Reinstatement of Jevon J. Jaconi

On Oct. 7, 2014, the Wisconsin Supreme Court denied the petition of Jevon Jaconi to reinstate his law license from a one-year disciplinary suspension that began Nov. 7, 2003. Disciplinary Proceedings Against Jaconi, 2014 WI 110.

Jaconi made false and unsubstantiated representations in his petition, in particular that he had paid all required restitution. The evidence presented at the reinstatement hearing showed that Jaconi had not repaid $500 to one of his former clients as ordered by the court, despite having the means to pay. Jaconi’s representation in his petition that he had paid the restitution was therefore not substantiated. Jaconi also failed to repay the Wisconsin Lawyers’ Fund for Client Protection, which had reimbursed one of Jaconi’s clients $7,500. Jaconi accordingly failed to meet his burden of proving that he met the requirements for reinstatement set forth in SCR 22.31.

Petition for Reinstatement of Michael A. Mandelman

A public hearing on the petition of Michael A. Mandelman, Mequon, to reinstate his Wisconsin law license will be held before referee Hannah Dugan, beginning at 9:30 a.m. on Feb. 4, 2015, and continuing at 9:30 a.m. on Feb. 5, 2015, at the Milwaukee Bar Association, 424 E. Wells St., Milwaukee. Any interested person may appear at the hearing and be heard in support of, or in opposition to, the reinstatement petition.

In Disciplinary Proceedings Against Mandelman, 2014 WI 100, the supreme court revoked Mandelman’s law license, effective May 29, 2009, as discipline for Mandelman engaging in 22 counts of professional misconduct. Mandelman had received discipline on six prior occasions, including four lengthy license suspensions, for professional misconduct.

To be reinstated, Mandelman has the burden of substantiating by clear, satisfactory, and convincing evidence that 1) he has the moral character to practice law in Wisconsin, 2) his resumption of the practice of law will not be detrimental to the administration of justice or subversive of the public interest, 3) all representations in his reinstatement petition are substantiated, and 4) he has complied fully with the terms of the order of suspension and with supreme court rules.

Relevant information may be provided to or obtained from Office of Lawyer Regulation (OLR) investigator Melody Rader Johnson (the OLR’s toll-free telephone number is (877) 315-6941) or the OLR’s retained counsel, Robert Krohn, P.O. Box 151, Edgerton, WI, 53534, (608) 884-3391.

Petition for Reinstatement of Matthew C. Siderits

A public hearing will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2015, before referee Michael F. Dubis at the Baymont Inn, 750 Fox Lane, Waterford, on the petition of Matthew C. Siderits, Pewaukee, to reinstate his Wisconsin law license. Any interested person may appear at the hearing and be heard in support of or in opposition to the petition for reinstatement.

On Jan. 4, 2013, the supreme court suspended Siderits’ Wisconsin law license for one year, effective Feb. 4, 2013, based on Siderits’ misrepresenting of billable hours for 2007 and 2008; making changes in the firm’s accounting system and deleting billable time without advising any other members of the firm; failing to disclose that certain write-downs or reductions of his billable hours on his clients’ bills rendered him ineligible for the bonuses in 2007 and 2008; and misrepresenting his billable time in order to receive $46,978.04 in bonuses to which he was not entitled, and by circumventing the firm’s bookkeeper, to prevent disclosure of his conduct.

To be reinstated, Siderits has the burden of substantiating by clear, satisfactory, and convincing evidence that 1) he has the moral character to practice law in Wisconsin, 2) his resumption of the practice of law will not be detrimental to the administration of justice or subversive of the public interest, 3) all representations in his reinstatement petition are substantiated, and 4) he has complied fully with the terms of the order of suspension or revocation and with SCR 22.26.

Relevant information may be provided to or obtained from OLR investigator Karl Wyler or OLR assistant litigation counsel Julie M. Spoke, 110 E. Main St., Suite 315, Madison, WI 53703. The OLR’s toll free telephone number is (877) 315-6941. Spoke’s direct phone number is (608) 261-8295.
