    William H. Levit Jr., Harvard 1967, has been reappointed by Gov. Jim Doyle to the State of Wisconsin Investment Board. He is a senior member of the litigation practice group in the Milwaukee office of Godfrey & Kahn S.C. and focuses on complex litigation matters.

    Awards, Degrees, Honors

    The Hon. Shirley S. Abrahamson, Indiana-Bloomington 1956, received the Harry L. Carrico Award for Judicial Innovation from the National Center for State Courts in May. She is chief judge of the Wisconsin Supreme Court.

    The Hon. Ann Walsh Bradley, U.W. 1976, received an outstanding alumni award from Webster University’s College of Arts and Sciences. She is on the Wisconsin Supreme Court.

    Nicholas Chiarkas, Temple 1978, received the 2009 Dorsey Award from the ABA’s Government and Public Sector Lawyers Division. Chiarkas, who is head of the Wisconsin Public Defenders office, was honored as an outstanding public defender for activities including organizing veterans’ treatment courts and working to keep children out of the justice system.

    James R.   Cole James R. Cole, U.W. 1969, received the State Bar’s President’s Award at the annual convention in May. He is a partner with the Madison office of Quarles & Brady LLP and focuses on intellectual property litigation, construction law, commercial litigation, and mediation and arbitration.

    Robin Dorman, U.W. 1979, received the Friend of the Friendless Award from Wisconsin Community Services Inc. Dorman is with the State Public Defenders Office, Milwaukee.

    Cindy Fryda, Marquette 2003, graduated from Leadership Waukesha, a Waukesha County Chamber of Commerce program that included a community service project focused on examining the effects on young people of environmental factors. She is with the Schroeder Group S.C., Attorneys at Law, Waukesha.

    Jerry Grzeca, Marquette 1988, received the American Immigration Lawyers Association 2009 President’s Commendation for Outstanding Leadership. He is founding and managing partner of Grzeca Law Group S.C., Milwaukee.

    Thomas A. Hendrickson, U.W. 1970, was inducted into the Michigan State University School of Criminal Justice “Wall of Fame.” He is executive director of the Michigan Association of Chiefs of Police, Okemos, Mich.

    Andrew J. Krajnek, U.W. 2001, received a 40 Under 40 Award from the Chamber of Manitowoc County. He is with Kaminski & Pozorski, Manitowoc, and focuses on real estate, probate, business transactions, and general litigation.

    The Hon. Elliott Levine, U.W. 1990, received the Aulik Award from the Wisconsin Association of Treatment Court Professionals. Levine is a La Crosse County circuit court judge.

    José Olivieri, Marquette 1981, received the Fran Swigart Board Leadership Award from the Volunteer Center of Greater Milwaukee. He is chair of the labor and employment law practice group at Michael Best & Friedrich LLP, Milwaukee, and also works in immigration and international migration law, education, government, and public policy issues.

    Michele L. Perreault, U.W. 2003, received the State Bar’s 2008 Hotline Attorney of the Year Award. She is an associate with the Madison office of DeWitt Ross & Stevens S.C. and focuses on family law.

    Ruhee Divgi, U.W. 2007 cum laude, and Matt Vogel, Chicago 2007, both with the Milwaukee office of Quarles & Brady LLP, received 2009 Youth Empowerment Awards from Servant Manor, a Christian social service agency in Milwaukee that provides services such as family treatment homes, treatment foster care, specialized foster care, and short-term residential respite care. Divgi focuses on mergers and acquisitions, commercial contracting, corporate finance, and general corporate matters. Vogel focuses on securities law, mergers and acquisitions, and antitrust law.
