Jamieson, U.W. 1997, have become Dane County Circuit Court
commissioners. Hanson previously was with the Dane County District
Attorney's Office. Jamieson previously was a Dane County assistant
corporation counsel.

Nicholas Whitman, U.W. 1998, has been promoted to
executive director of the National Education Association of New York,
Albany. He previously was director of affiliate services and
organizing.
Brian S. Kern, U.W. 1997, has been made assistant
general counsel for the Medmarc Insurance Group, Chantilly, Va.,
focusing on general corporate law and insurance regulatory law.

Mary C. Flanner, U.W. 1987 cum laude, Robert
W. Stack, Nashville 1996, and Thomas R. Fahl,
U.W. 1965, have formed Flanner, Stack & Fahl LLP,

Tom Freeman, Harvard 1977, has established a
consulting practice as an arbitrator, mediator, and consultant in
Orinda, Calif. He previously practiced with a firm in San Francisco.

office at Suite 2900, 20 N. La Salle St., Chicago. Daniel P.

Daniel D. Blinka, U.W. 1978 cum laude, has been
appointed a court commissioner by Milwaukee County Circuit Court Judge
John J. DiMotto. Blinka is a professor at Marquette Law School and is of
counsel to Stierman, Steffens & Kuphall S.C.

selected to serve on the general counsel panel of the International
Institute for Conflict Prevention and Resolution. He is a shareholder

Wisconsin Technology Council board, which advises the governor and the

recipient of the Judge Myron L. Gordon Lifetime Achievement Award,

Award, presented by the Social Justice Center Inc. and The Capital
Times, in May for his lifetime of work dedicated to social justice
and political change. He is a senior partner with Garvey McNeil &
McGillivray S.C., Madison.
Michael Best & Friedrich LLP has received the
Trademark Insider award from NameProtect for the fourth consecutive
year. The firm was listed as legal representative on 506 trademark
applications submitted to the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office in

Scott B. Franklin, Marquette 1995, received the
