Jan. 20, 2016 – Get involved in activities that influence the practice of law and guide the State Bar by running for a seat on the State Bar’s Board of Governors.
As a State Bar volunteer, you serve a vital role in providing member and public services while gaining the personal and professional satisfaction of making a difference in the profession and the legal system.
Consider contributing your time and expertise as a representative on the Board of Governors. Deadlines are fast approaching for the 2016 elections.
Board of Governors
The Board of Governors is the State Bar's policymaking body. Governors serve two-year terms.
Districts 2, 4, 6, 8, 9, 10, 12, 14, and 16 will elect governors in 2016. District 2 (Milwaukee) elects five; District 6 (Waukesha) elects two; District 9 (Dane) elects four; and all other districts elect one.
To be considered for a seat on the Board of Governors, members must submit a petition to the State Bar by March 1, 2016, that is signed by 10 active members in their district.

Committee service provides you the opportunity to influence important issues facing the profession and the legal system, and it’s a great way to meet other lawyers who want to make a difference.
Committees include Communications, Continuing Legal Education, Professional Ethics, Diversity and Inclusion Oversight, Public Education, and more.

In Other Elections

Voting
State Bar election ballots will be mailed no later than April 8, 2016, and must be returned by April 22, 2016.
Persons elected will take office July 1, 2016.
