    New Hires, Promotions, Partners

    Renae Waterman Aldana Gary M. Ruesch Renae Waterman Aldana, U.W. 1999, and Gary M. Ruesch, Marquette 1980, have joined the school law practice at Buelow Vetter Buikema Olson & Vliet LLC, Waukesha. Both attorneys previously were with Quarles & Brady LLP.

    James Casey, Dayton 1988, has been promoted to executive director, office of grants, contracts, and industrial agreements, at the University of Texas at San Antonio.

    Todd Slagter, Denver 2000, LL.M. taxation, has joined DiRenzo & Bomier LLC, Neenah, as an associate and focuses on estate planning, probate and trust law, taxation, elder law, and real estate. He previously was with a firm in Oshkosh. Four attorneys have been promoted to partner. Jeffrey Berzowski, Indiana Univ.-Indianapolis 2002, focuses on administrative, employment, business, commercial, personal injury, and litigation matters. Rachel Fitzgerald, William Mitchell 2004, focuses on Social Security disability and worker’s compensation issues. Kathleen Healy, Marquette 2003, focuses on family and employment law and civil litigation. Meghan Healy, Marquette 2006, focuses on family, employment, guardian ad litem, and worker’s compensation matters.

    Five attorneys have been promoted to partnership in Wisconsin offices of Foley & Lardner LLP. Daniel G. Mohan, U.W. 2002, business law; and Stephan J. Nickels, Marquette 2000, litigation, are new partners in the Madison office. Heidi M. Furlong, Virginia 2001, business law; Elizabeth P. Hanigan, Marquette 2002, regulated industries; and Tanya C. O’Neill, Drake 1998, business law, are new partners in the Milwaukee office.

    Eric J. Goelz Eric J. Goelz, Marquette 1989, has joined Matthiesen, Wickert & Lehrer S.C., Hartford, and continues to focus on civil litigation defense. He previously was with O’Neill, Schimmel, Quirk & Carroll S.C., Milwaukee.

    Michael R. Soule, Marquette 2010, has joined Consigny, Andrews, Hemming & Grant S.C., Janesville, as an associate. He also is licensed to practice law in Illinois.

    Brian C. Spahn, U.W. 2006 cum laude, has joined the Milwaukee office of Godfrey & Kahn S.C. in the litigation practice group. He previously was with Sutherland Asbill & Brennan LLP, Washington, D.C.

    Ricky C. Benjamin Three attorneys have joined Whyte Hirschboeck & Dudek S.C. Ricky C. Benjamin, Iowa 1990, is a partner focusing on tort litigation and labor and employment counseling and litigation in the Milwaukee office. He previously was general counsel to Park Avenue OculoPlastic Surgeons, Denver. Melissa Caulum, U.W. 2007, and Thomas Heneghan, DePaul 1989, have joined the Madison office. Caulum focuses on business litigation. Heneghan, a partner, focuses on complex intellectual property and business litigation.

    Ryan R. Worrell, U.W. 2006, has been named counsel for business and legal affairs at A&E Television
    Networks.

    Matthew C. Vogel Matthew C. Vogel, Chicago 2007, has been elected to the board of VSA Wisconsin, which provides arts programs for individuals with disabilities. He is a member of the corporate services group in the Milwaukee office of Quarles & Brady LLP.

    Awards, Degrees, Honors

    Murphy Desmond S.C., Madison, received the M&A Advisor Turnaround Community Impact Award at a ceremony in Florida in March for its work with the sale of Wick Building Systems Inc. The firm also was nominated in other award categories. The M&A Advisor is an organization of mergers and acquisitions, turnaround, and finance professionals.

    Nancy J. Sennett, Northwestern 1979, is a recipient of the 2011 Sacagawea Award, presented each year to two women for their significant career accomplishments, community commitment, support for the advancement of women, and embodiment of Sacagawea’s trailblazing spirit. She is a partner with the Milwaukee office of Foley & Lardner LLP and focuses on commercial and business litigation.
