    Elections: Who Will Represent You on the Board of Governors?

    With the April elections approaching quickly, now is the time to get to know those candidates who are asking for your vote to lead the State Bar as governors.

    March 15, 2017 – The State Bar’s Board of Governors influence the future of the State Bar as well as set its policy direction. Your vote for these candidates will make a difference in the future of the practice of law in Wisconsin.

    About the Election for the State Bar Board of Governors

    The Board of Governors is the State Bar's policymaking body. Governors serve two-year terms.

    Districts 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 9, 11, 13, and 15 will elect governors in 2017. District 2 (Milwaukee) elects seven; District 9 (Dane) elects three; and all other districts elect one.

    The State Bar will mail election ballots no later than April 14, 2017. They must be returned by April 28, 2017.

    Candidates for the Board of Governors

    You have a say in who will represent your district on the Board of Governors. Persons elected will take office July 1, 2017.

    The Board of Governors’ candidates represent a wide variety of experience and practice areas. By district, the candidates are:

    District 1 (one vacancy)

    District 2 (seven vacancies)

    District 3 (one vacancy)

    District 5 (one vacancy)

    Get to Know State Bar President-elect, Treasurer, and Judicial Council Candidates

    You decide who will lead and represent the State Bar in the coming years. The president-elect serves a one-year term before becoming president for a one-year term, then past-president for a one-year term. The president-elect serves a one-year term before becoming president. Persons elected take office July 1, 2017.
