    Legal Assistant

    ​Axley is seeking a legal assistant with a minimum of three years of business transactional experience, preferably including both real estate and banking. The individual hired for this position will be responsible for running conflicts searches, opening new client files, preparing engagement agreements, and handling billing. Additional job duties include:

    • Prepare closing checklists for loan and sale/purchase transactions

    • Monitor contingency deadlines and status

    • Take part in status conference calls and provide input

    • Prepare first drafts of loan and real estate documents, including loan modification agreements, promissory notes, deeds, affidavits, leases, assignments and the like

    • Research county land records re: assessments, taxes, ownership

    • Record documents with county registers of deeds offices

    • Work with title companies to obtain title work, remove exceptions, finalize settlement statements

    • File documents (UCCs, articles of incorporation/organization, annual reports) with Wisconsin Dept. of Financial Institutions

    • Prepare exhibits such as marked site plans for attachment to documents

    • Proofread, edit and format documents

    • Assemble signature packages (multiple signers, sometimes as many as 50-100 documents) and monitor delivery of the same for closings

    • Prepare electronic and hard copies of closing transcripts
