    Matthew J. Banker, Marquette 2001, has been promoted to associate director of academic reviews at the National Collegiate Athletic Association national office in Indianapolis.

    John Theiler Bode, St. Mary's 1973, has joined Murn & Martin S.C., Waukesha, as a shareholder and continues to practice in corporate and business law, commercial and business litigation, products liability, insurance law, employment litigation, and appeals. He previously was with Godfrey & Kahn S.C.

Westlake, Marquette 2000, have joined Davis & Kuelthau s.c., Milwaukee, as associates and focus on corporate transactions, mergers and acquisitions, and general business law, including commercial finance.     Gregory T. Everts, Michigan 1990, has been elected president of the Western District of Wisconsin Bar Association. He is a partner with the Madison office of Quarles & Brady LLP and focuses on business and intellectual property law.

    Timothy F. Nixon, U.W. 1990, has been reelected to the board of the State Bar's Bankruptcy, Insolvency and Creditors' Rights Section. He is team leader of the business finance and restructuring practice group at Godfrey & Kahn S.C., Milwaukee.

    Awards, Degrees, Honors

    Davis & Kuelthau s.c. received the Albert Beck Award from the United Way of Waukesha County at a ceremony in June. The firm was honored for making the largest dollar contribution of all participating medium-size firms. Employees of the firm also participated in the Legal Community's Day of Caring.

    Robert Donohoo, Marquette 1973, and the Hon. Ralph Ramirez, U.W. 1984, have been chosen to receive awards from the Wisconsin Chapter of the Justinian Society of Lawyers. Donohoo, a Milwaukee County deputy district attorney, will receive the Citizen of the Year award. Ramirez, a Waukesha County circuit court judge, will receive the Jurist of the Year award.

    Daniel W. Hildebrand, U.W. 1964, was a recipient of the Charles L. Goldberg Distinguished Service Award at the State Bar Annual Convention in Milwaukee in May. The award, presented by the Wisconsin Law Foundation, recognizes lifetime achievement of legal professionals who have a record of professional and public service. Hildebrand, a partner at DeWitt Ross & Stevens S.C., Madison, was honored for work including service on the Wisconsin Ethics 2000 Committee and on a variety of ABA committees and boards.

    Roy H. Nelson, U.W. 1988, received a Master of Divinity degree from Wartburg Theological Seminary, Dubuque, and has been installed as pastor at First Lutheran Church, DeKalb, Ill. His ministry focuses on evangelism, outreach, and mission work. He formerly was a shareholder and director of Petrie & Stocking S.C., Milwaukee.

    Katherine Maloney Perhach, Marquette 2000, received the Dean Howard B. Eisenberg Award from Marquette Law School in honor of her dedication to public interest law and community service. She is an associate with Quarles & Brady LLP and practices in general civil and commercial litigation and bankruptcy. She volunteers with the Task Force on Family Violence Restraining Order Clinic.

    Bratislav Stankovic, U.W. 2004 with honors, has received a J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship award, which he will use to help modernize the status of intellectual property in Macedonia. He is with Brinks Hofer Gilson & Lione, Chicago, and focuses on patent prosecution and litigation in a variety of areas.

    David J. Wambach, Marquette 1985, received the 2007 Prosecutor of the Year Award from the Wisconsin Association of Homicide Investigators for his successful prosecution of a cold case homicide that occurred in 1987. He is Jefferson County District Attorney.

    Pro Bono, Public Service

    Raymond A. Eckstein, Marquette 1949, and his wife have announced their intent to donate $51 million to Marquette University for construction of a new law school facility. Eckstein had a law practice in Cassville and founded Wisconsin Barge Lines and, later, Marquette Transportation.

    Hupy and Abraham S.C., Milwaukee, will once again sponsor the children's program "Reading Rainbow" on Wisconsin Public Television. The firm, along with Reinhart, Boerner, Van Deuren S.C., Milwaukee, was a diversity partner at the Wisconsin Association of African-American Lawyers Scholarship Dinner, held in May in Milwaukee.

    Michael D. Cicchini, Marquette 1999 summa cum laude, has authored "Prosecutorial Misconduct at Trial: A New Perspective Rooted in Confrontation Clause Jurisprudence," 37 Seton Hall L. Rev. 335 (2007).

    The Hon. Janine Geske, Marquette 1975, spoke at the first National Conference on Restorative Justice in June at Shreiner University in Kerrville, Texas. She is a professor at Marquette University Law School and previously was a justice on the Wisconsin Supreme Court.

    Erik R. Guenther, U.W. 2002, presented "Just the Facts: Investigations in Criminal Defense Litigation" at the annual meeting of the Professional Association of Wisconsin Licensed Investigators in Green Bay in March.
