Solo, Small Firm & Technology Conference Promises to Keep Your Practice on Track

National, regional, and local experts on substantive law, law practice management, and legal technology will be the featured presenters, Nov. 16-17, at the first Wisconsin Solo, Small Firm & Technology Conference, to be held at the Wyndham Hotel, Milwaukee. Themed "There Is a Better Way," and running from 8 a.m. Thursday to 1 p.m. Friday, the conference offers two plenary sessions, "25-plus Technology and Practice Management Predictions for Small Firms" and "60 Hot Legal, PC, Ethics and Practice Management Tips, Gadgets, and Web Sites in 90 Minutes," and five topical tracks with more than 25 educational sessions covering substantive law, best practices, technology, business of the law, and quality of life.

"This year's conference, sponsored by the State Bar of Wisconsin and the Milwaukee Bar Association, features a stellar faculty, including top national CLE presenters, as well as distinguished members of the Bench and Bar," says conference chair Ross Kodner. "The combination of legal technology and practice sessions is exactly the kind of targeted information Wisconsin legal professionals have been asking for."

Thursday's keynote speaker is Fredric I. Lederer, chancellor professor of law and director of the Courtroom 21 Project at the College of William & Mary School of Law, Williamsburg, Va. Lederer will present, "The Automated Courtroom and Electronic Litigation - What's Here Now and Where It's Going."

Dustin Cole, Attorneys Master Class president, Longwood, Fla., will present several sessions on building a practice, the fundamentals of money in a small firm, defining staff roles, managing time and paper work, effective billing techniques, and making your practice fun.

Tuition is $199 for lawyers and $99 for judges and nonlawyers, and is free to law students. Register before Oct. 16 and receive a $30 discount.
