Paul Griepentrog, Marquette 1996, has been elected
president of Citizens Against Drug Impaired Drivers (C.A.N.D.I.D.),
which supports and provides programs to help reduce injuries and
fatalities caused by drivers impaired by illegal drugs, prescribed
medications, and over-the-counter products. Griepentrog is an associate
on the corporate team in the Milwaukee office of Godfrey & Kahn
S.C.
Jonathan T. Levy, U.W. 1995, has been chosen
chair-elect of the Academy of Florida Trial Lawyers, Young Lawyers
Section. He also has become a shareholder in Rosenthal & Weissman,
West Palm Beach, where he represents plaintiffs in personal injury
suits.

Susan R. Steingass, U.W. 1976, has been named to the
board of trustees of the National Institute for Trial Advocacy.
Steingass, who focuses on personal injury and commercial litigation in
the Madison office of Habush Habush & Rottier S.C., also teaches at
the U.W. Law School.
The U.W. Law School has named two new associate deans. R.
Alta Charo, Columbia 1982, is the new associate dean for
faculty research and development. Charo, who holds a joint appointment
with the law school and the medical school, is a national authority on
bioethics. John Kidwell, Harvard 1970, is the new
associate dean for academic affairs. He is Haight Professor of Law and
focuses on teaching in the areas of contracts, copyrights, trademarks,
and remedies.
David W. Van de Burgt, Southern Illinois 1991, has
been named chief of the Industrial Commission Bureau, Chicago, by the
Illinois Attorney General. Van de Burgt previously was supervising
attorney for the civil prosecutions and administrative law unit of the
Illinois Attorney General's Office. He also teaches legal writing and
research at the John Marshall Law School.
The Waukesha County Bar Association has chosen the following

Authors, Speakers
Thomas M. Domer, U.W. 1983, has written "Winning
Worker's Compensation Claims for Carpal Tunnel Syndrome," TRIAL
(June 2002). Domer, who focuses on representing injured workers at Domer
Law S.C. and teaches at Marquette University Law School, also spoke
about worker's compensation case evaluation at the Association of Trial
Lawyers of America annual conference in Atlanta.
Foley & Lardner hosted a National Directors
Institute, designed to help boardroom advisors respond to increased
scrutiny of the roles, duties, and actions of boards of directors and
audit committees. Arthur Levitt, former chair of the Securities and
Exchange Commission, delivered the keynote speech. Participating Foley
attorneys included Ralf Boer, U.W. 1974, Steven
R. Barth, Michigan 1984, Benjamin F. Garmer,
NYU 1967, Patrick G. Quick, Michigan 1984, Jay
O. Rothman, Harvard 1985, and Nancy J.

Liza Kessler, U.W. 1997, spoke to the American
Association of School Librarians, addressing the implications of the
PATRIOT Act and the new FBI investigation guidelines for schools and
school libraries.
The Hon. Barbara A. Kluka, Marquette 1978, chief
judge of the Kenosha County Circuit Court, attended a workshop at the
National Judicial College in Reno, Nev., concerning improving
court/media relations. Kluka is also chief judge of the second judicial
district, which encompasses Kenosha, Racine, and Walworth counties.
Awards, Degrees, Honors
Allan R. Koritzinsky, U.W. 1966, has received the
Morris Slavney Mediator of the Year award from the Dane County Bar
Association for his work on the association's case mediation committee
and as a pro bono family law mediator for the program. Koritzinsky is a
partner in the Madison office of Foley & Lardner, chair of the
firm's family law service team, and a fellow of the American Academy of
Matrimonial Lawyers.
Marc T. McCrory, U.W. 1986, has been awarded an AV
rating by the Martindale-Hubbell Bar Register. The "A" signifies the
highest level of legal ability, and the "V" denotes very high adherence
to the professional standards of conduct, ethics, reliability, and
diligence. McCrory is a shareholder with the Janesville office of
Brennan, Steil, Basting & MacDougall S.C., where he practices in
personal injury, constitutional litigation, professional malpractice,
and business litigation trial work. He also is a fellow of the American
Bar Foundation and has been certified as a civil trial advocate by the
National Board of Trial Advocacy.
Dennis H. Milbrath, New England School of Law 1979,
has been elected a fellow in the American Academy of Matrimonial
Lawyers. He is a partner in Levy & Levy S.C., Cedarburg.
The Milwaukee Bar Association presented its annual awards to the
following attorneys: Janine Geske, Marquette 1975,
received the Lawyer of the Year Award for serving as interim Milwaukee
County Executive, a position in which she provided leadership and
direction and helped restore integrity to and confidence in county
government. She teaches at Marquette University and is a former
Wisconsin Supreme Court justice. Herman John, Marquette
1973, received the Distinguished Service Award for preparing a survey
concerning Milwaukee attorneys' opinions of the court systems in which
they appear. John is a court commissioner and retired Milwaukee County
deputy district attorney. Allen Rieselbach, Harvard
1956, received the Lifetime Achievement Award for his work developing
the real estate department of Reinhart, Boerner, Van Deuren, Norris
& Rieselbach and for his civic contributions, including services to
the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra. He is a retired shareholder with
Reinhart Boerner Van Deuren.
Russell B. Stowers, U.W. 1989, has been named one of
the "Top 50 Pro Bono Attorneys of Arizona" for 2002 by the Arizona
Foundation for Legal Services and Education. Stowers, who is with the
Tucson office of Snell & Wilmer L.L.P., was honored for his work
with the Volunteer Lawyers Program in Tucson.
Kim Marie Wacek, Hamline 1987, has become a member
of the Middle Temple Inn of Court, London, England, and has been
admitted to the New York Bar. Wacek, a sole practitioner in Green Bay,
is studying to become a barrister.
