Job Openings for Legal Professionals: Hurricane Disaster Recovery Temporary Positions

The U.S. Small Business Administration is seeking temporary workers for hurricane disaster recovery jobs in California, Texas, and New York through Dec. 31.

Oct. 4, 2017 – With the recent devastation that has occurred from hurricanes Harvey, Irma, and Maria, the Small Business Administration (SBA) is hiring temporary employees to assist with disaster relief efforts.

Those with legal skills are among those needed, including lawyers, paralegals, and legal assistants, says Eric Jones, deputy chief of staff of the U.S. Small Business Administration.

The legal positions involve speaking with borrowers, preparing and closing legal documents, and validating deeds and collateral. Training is provided by SBA staff.

The jobs are available through Dec. 31, 2017, and are located at processing centers in Sacramento, California; Dallas, Texas; and Buffalo, New York. Wisconsin lawyers do not need to be licensed in California, Texas, or New York to fill the positions.

Compensation is based on each individual’s qualifications, skillsets, responsibility, hours, and location.
