For 34 years, the Diversity Clerkship Program has connected Wisconsin law students with legal employers for meaningful summer work. Participants in the 2026 program describe how the experience strengthened legal skills, introduced new practice areas, and created relationships that can last well beyond the clerkship.

Wisconsin, like most states, has a growing shortage of skilled civil trial lawyers, especially in rural areas throughout the state. Jeffrey Muszynski discusses the steps Wisconsin is taking to address this issue and urges members of the bar to do more to keep alive the tradition of highly skilled advocates in the state.

At the virtual 2026 Equal Justice Conference, Aug. 13-14, lawyers can learn from experienced practitioners, broaden their understanding of access-to-justice issues, and become better prepared to help people in need.

New Wisconsin lawyers in their second to fourth years of practice may apply for $3,200 Belle Case La Follette Awards to help with law school debt, office expenses, or other financial needs. Applicants must currently represent underserved populations.
